Navigation, search and shortcuts¶
The sidebar¶
The left-hand menu is grouped by what you do, and only shows what your role can open.
| Section | What is in it | Who sees it |
|---|---|---|
| Orders | Active, fulfilment, all, completed, incomplete, suspended, cancelled, returns | Administrators |
| Customers | Registered customers | Administrators |
| Subscriptions | Subscriptions by status | Administrators, when subscriptions are in use |
| Catalogue | Products, collections, taxonomies, merchandising trees, delivery options | Merchandisers and above |
| Search | Overview, analytics, synonyms, test a search | Merchandisers and above |
| Content | Pages, blogs, global pages, stereotypes | Content editors and above |
| Media | The media library | Merchandisers, content editors and above |
| Finance | Reports, bills, gift cards | Finance and above |
| Fundraising | Donations, Gift Aid, fundraisers | Finance and above, when donations or fundraisers are in use |
| Settings | All settings, appearance, selling, maintenance | Administrators |
"All settings" is the searchable page that holds every setting switch. The Search section's "Overview" is a status summary of your search index.
Features that are switched off¶
Donations, fundraisers and subscriptions normally appear when you switch the feature on. If a shop already holds records for one of them while its switch is off (for example after an import), the entry still appears, marked off, so the records are never stranded. Switch the feature on under Settings to remove the marker.
Recently visited¶
The first sidebar item lists the pages and records you opened lately, such as a product, an order or a page. It is stored in your browser, per user, and does not appear until you have visited something.
The top bar¶
- Search opens the command palette (see below). On a phone it is a magnifying-glass button.
- View store opens your shop in a new tab.
- The bell shows your alerts, with a count only when something is waiting.
Command palette¶
Press Ctrl+K (⌘+K on a Mac), or tap the search button in the top bar, then type.
One box searches across:
- Products: by name, SEO name or SKU (including variant SKUs), enabled or not.
- Collections, pages and posts.
- Orders: by order number, customer name or customer email. Only people who can open orders see this group.
- Customers: by name or email. Administrators only.
- Settings: by name, key or description. Choosing one opens the setting.
- Go to: any sidebar destination, for example "gift aid" or "payments".
- Quick actions: New product, New collection, New page, New bill, Add a synonym, Rebuild search index, View storefront.
Typing an exact order number, such as #1042, puts "Go to order #1042" first.
With nothing typed, the palette shows quick actions and the pages you visited recently.
| Key | Does |
|---|---|
| ↑ ↓ | Move through results |
| Enter | Open the highlighted result |
| Ctrl/⌘ + Enter | Open it in a new tab |
| Esc | Close |
You only ever see results you are allowed to open. A merchandiser, for instance, never sees orders or customers.
Keyboard shortcuts¶
Press ? on any admin page for the list. Shortcuts are ignored while you are typing in a field.
| Keys | Does |
|---|---|
| Ctrl/⌘ + K | Open the command palette |
| / | Focus the page's search box, or open the palette if the page has none |
| ? | Show the shortcuts sheet |
| g then o | Orders |
| g then p | Products |
| g then c | Collections |
| g then g | Pages |
| g then u | Customers |
| g then f | Finance reports |
| g then s | Settings |
| g then h | Home |
A "go to" shortcut only works when the sidebar offers that destination to your role.
Dashboard figures¶
Every tile on the dashboard says what it counts:
- Sales and orders are orders placed (submitted) in the stated window: today, the chosen number of days, or the last twelve months.
- Orders to fulfil is the number of orders waiting right now: paid and to be packed, plus packed and to be dispatched.
- Plan and usage shows plan limits only when Badger Sett has recorded them for your shop. Without a recorded limit it shows the count on its own.
