BadgerCommerce Platform Features¶
Welcome to the comprehensive feature documentation for BadgerCommerce, an enterprise-grade ecommerce platform built for flexibility, scalability, and performance.
Core Platform Features¶
BadgerCommerce provides a complete suite of features for building and running sophisticated ecommerce operations:
Product Catalog Management¶
A robust system for managing products, variants, collections, and inventory with advanced search and discovery capabilities.
Order Management¶
Comprehensive order processing from cart creation through checkout, payment processing, and fulfillment.
Dispatch, Cancellations & Returns¶
Dispatch tracking in the customer's dispatch email, resending it, cancelling orders before dispatch (refund or release, restock, customer email), returns (RMAs) after dispatch, and what the pipelines do when an order is in the wrong state.
Search and Discovery¶
Powerful search capabilities with faceted navigation, product discovery, and merchandising controls.
Search Architecture¶
Architectural principles, domain model, and indexing pipeline behind the search-first discovery platform — the merchandising tree, taxonomy projections, virtual categories, and how they all flow into Typesense.
Search Bar & Autocomplete¶
The placeable storefront search box with as-you-type product and category suggestions, jump-straight-to-product navigation, and an optional animated placeholder.
Content Search¶
Optional per-site search over CMS pages and blog posts — a separate Typesense index fed from each page's extensions, surfaced in the search-box dropdown and as a Pages & articles tab on /search with snippets and tag filtering.
Multi-Tenancy Architecture¶
True multi-tenant capabilities allowing multiple storefronts to operate from a single platform instance.
Demo Sites¶
Four fictional merchants on four themes (Pop, Depot, Brock, Nova), seeded with one command: the quickest way to see the platform's range.
Site Data Transfer¶
Export and import site configuration and catalogue data between environments, with automatic ID remapping and PII exclusion.
Extension System¶
A flexible extension framework for customizing functionality and adding new features without core code changes.
AI Integration¶
Cutting-edge AI capabilities for enhancing product information, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
Payment Processing¶
Secure, flexible payment handling with support for multiple payment methods and advanced features like saved payments.
Gift Cards¶
Complete gift card system with internal and external providers, PIN encryption, virtual gift card sales, and checkout redemption via PaymentV2.
Product Type Decorators¶
Per-product input contracts (recipient email, donor name, gift card number) — how decorators are wired internally, the built-in catalogue, and the REST registry that lets headless clients discover and submit decorator inputs.
Subscriptions¶
Recurring billing and subscription management powered by Stripe, with automated lifecycle handling via webhook events.
Content Management¶
Tools for creating and managing engaging content across your storefront without technical expertise.
Site Customization¶
Comprehensive theming and customization capabilities to match your brand identity precisely.
Marketing Tools¶
Everything you need to attract customers, increase conversions, and build loyalty.
SEO Structured Data¶
The site-wide schema.org WebSite and Organization JSON-LD in every storefront page's head: what goes in it, where each value comes from, when the search box is advertised, and the structured-data-enabled switch.
Transactional Email¶
The compact theme-aware email rendering engine that runs on any node, and the RabbitMQ job queue that offloads order-pipeline email sending to the worker so request-handling nodes stay lightweight.
Badger Sett Federation¶
Federating shop-operator sign-in to Badger Sett as an upstream OIDC provider — the per-shop rollout flag, who is invited to migrate (and why POS agents never are), the in-band link-and-flip flow, and the enforcement switch that ships disabled.
Subscription Entitlements¶
Knowing which edition — Lite or Enterprise — each shop is subscribed to, driven by signed webhooks from Badger Sett: the capability vocabulary, how an organisation resolves to shops, where the feature gates sit, why a shop we have never heard of keeps everything, and the enforcement switch that ships disabled.
