Admin Payouts page¶
Finance › Payouts shows a shop the money Stripe pays into its bank, and what each payout is
made of. It's where the payout email's button goes. How it's built (PayoutService, the kept
StoredPayouts, PayoutSyncJob) is in
Payment processing; this page covers what it
shows and why.
Decisions¶
- Badger, not the Stripe dashboard. Shops see their payouts here rather than being sent to Stripe. Neither the page nor the payout email links to the dashboard.
- One breakdown, shared with the email. The page and the email both read
PayoutBreakdown, so the email's counts of orders, subscription payments and other payments match the page. Only the page shows the money breakdown and the fees; the email links here for it. - Subscriptions are named. Payments that paid a Stripe invoice are "Subscriptions", not lumped in with payments from outside the shop. Stripe Billing's fees show as "Stripe subscription fees", apart from the processing fees.
- No Gift Aid here. The Gift Aid claim email and the Gift Aid report cover that. Payouts are about the money Stripe sends.
- The orders, each linked. The payout's page lists every order in it with the amount it put into the payout, so a shop can reconcile its bank statement against its orders.
- Kept, not fetched. The list reads what Badger keeps, so it's quick and doesn't fail when Stripe is slow. Statuses follow the webhooks, and the hourly sync fills in the rest.
- Plain statuses. Stripe's
pending,in_transit,paid,failedandcanceledread as Pending, On its way, In your bank, Failed and Cancelled. A failed payout says what Stripe did with the money.
Layout¶
- List: the report header and switcher, then one table: Arrives (linked to the payout, with "started by you" for a manual payout), Status, Account (last four digits) and Amount. Older and newer pages are buttons under it.
- Payout: the amount is the title, with the status, the arrival day and the account under it. Three figures follow (orders, subscription payments, fees), then What's in it (adding up to Paid to you), a note for any payments from outside the shop, and Orders in this payout.
- A manual payout shows the amount and dates with a note that Stripe doesn't list what's in it. A shop without Stripe is told to connect it.
